Book Review, “I’d Like You More If You Were More Like Me,” John Ortberg author

I'd Like YOu More cover

I’d Like You More If You Were More Like Me: Getting Real About Getting Close, by John Ortberg, is an incredible book. It seeks to assist all types of people in creating deeper, more meaningful relationships.

This book teaches how to overcome obstacles in order to create the type relationships we crave with both God and other people. It teaches how to: recognize and respond to bids for connection, get past your fear of intimacy, sidestep common relationship pitfalls, and make God an active part of your everyday life. Ortberg states that the Bible is not an instruction manual. Rather, it is a love story, a story of Jesus loving us enough to come to earth to become real to us and show us how to become real with Him and others.

This is a wonderful book.  In addition to the personal stories and straightforward information, I appreciated the use of other stories to prove points.  I especially appreciated the use of The Velveteen Rabbit.

I would recommend this book to anyone wishing to grow more intimate with God or other people around them.

I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
