Maybe It’s You, by Candace Calvert, is the third book in the Crisis Team series. Set in Los Angeles, it tells the story of a woman attempting to begin a new life after a series of tough circumstances and poor life choices.
Sloane Ferrell, formerly Sloane Wilder, has created a new life in Los Angeles after leaving a man connected to serious crime and a personal battle with alcoholism. Micah Prescott’s job is to improve the hospital’s image, but he also volunteers as a crisis responder. Drawn to Sloane, he is puzzled by her passion for privacy. But as the two begin a new relationship, several crimes in the area expose details of Sloane’s past that endanger her. When Micah learns of her alcoholism, he hesitates to continue their relationship due to his prejudice against alcoholics, even though she is no longer drinking.
I enjoyed this book. The characters were realistic, with real life problems and mindsets. I especially liked Celeste and Piper, with their down to earth love for the Lord and practical descriptions of His love for us. Also, the author’s experience as a former ER nurse was obvious in the details of the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Christian suspense novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
