Catching Heat, by Janice Cantore, is the third book in the Cold Case Justice series. Like its predecessors, it is an amazing story. It continues the saga of detective Abby Hart and Private Investigator Luke Murphy, who have been investigating the deaths of her parents and his uncle during the first two books in the series.
Abby is certain that Alyssa Rollins, the governor’s wife, is behind the murders. When the newly formed task force she joined is sent to work on a cold case involving a murdered college student not far from the town where Alyssa grew up, Abby sees her opportunity to dig deeper into the woman’s history. Luke, afraid that she might become obsessed with the case, is skeptical. But when the evidence she uncovers makes the situation dangerous, they and their friend Woody wonder if they will even survive the investigation.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a fitting conclusion to this incredible series. I especially enjoyed Abby’s character. I also enjoyed Woody and his love of dogs. The author’s background in law enforcement helps to make her stories seem real enough that one could be reading a true story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
