Grieving the Loss of a Loved One: A Devotional of Comfort as You Mourn, by Kathe Wunnenberg, is a wonderful book, resource, or gift. Drawing from her own experiences, Wunnenberg empathizes with the anguish others experience as they endure loss.
This book contains twelve parts, each containing four or five devotions. The devotions begin with scripture, then present a devotion, and end with a prayer and space for journaling. Each is meant to assist the reader in gaining courage to “press on.” Some of the sections are entitled: Denying, Venting, Crying, Praising, Bargaining, and Accepting. In one devotion, Wunnenberg suggests scheduling a DAWG day, a “Day Alone With God.”
This devotional is well-written. It would be a great source of encouragement to anyone who has experienced loss. I appreciated the gentleness of the messages, as well as the manner in which the author encourages people to turn to God and others for help and strength to travel through the “worst pain” and “darkest thoughts.”
I would recommend this book to anyone who has experience grieving.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
