Back in the Saddle, by Ruth Logan Herne, is the first book in the Double S Ranch series. It is set in Gray’s Glen, Washington, a small town far from anything resembling a big city, where Sam Stafford has spent a lifetime building his ranch.
Colt Stafford returns home to the Double S Ranch discouraged and ready to start over. While he had not planned for this when he left for Wall Street years ago, a change in the market has left him no other option. He returns to find Angelina, the new-to-him housekeeper, pointing a gun at him, causing suspicion from the very beginning. Angelina, glad to have this respite from the dangers of the Seattle police force, is not prepared for Colt’s intrusion upon her life. Neither of them is prepared for the instant attraction that they feel, and their lives appear to be headed in different directions. As they work to help Colt’s father and brother, as well as the town of Gray’s Glen, things begin to change.
I enjoyed this book. It shows an intergenerational family working together for the good of not only their own interests, but also the entire community. I especially liked Isabo, with her dedication to her family and others.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian romance novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
