Book Review, “The NIV Once-A-Day Bible for Leaders,” Zondervan publishers

The NIV Once A Day Bible for Leaders coverThe NIV Once-A-Day Bible for Leaders, published by Zondervan, is a remarkable tool for any Bible scholar, especially those in or considering leadership roles. Its goal is to help readers “practice the spiritual discipline of daily Bible reading with a special focus on leadership.”

This Bible includes a table of weights and measures, a canonical index, and a yearly reading plan. Each reading is numbered, not dated, including a reading from the Old Testament, a reading from the New Testament, a reading from Psalms or Proverbs, and a reflection from a past or present leader. Some of those leaders featured include Bill Hybels, Wayne Cordeiro, Charles Stanley, Max Lucado, Chris Tomlinson, and J. Oswald Sanders.

I found this Bible very helpful for not only leaders, but anyone attempting to read the Bible in one year. Its arrangement makes it easy to use without the need to flip from one section to another or keep track of a checklist of readings. The reflections were thought provoking and helpful. I would have liked to see the words of Jesus in red letter and the print larger; but overall, I was impressed with this Bible and would recommend it to others.

I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
