Book review, “Christmas in Apple Ridge,” Cindy Woodsmall author

Christmas in Apple Ridge coverChristmas in Apple Ridge, by Cindy Woodsmall , is a three-in-one collection of books that take place in Apple Ridge, Pennsylvania.  While the characters in each story intertwine, each can be read easily as a stand-alone book.

The first story, The Sound of Sleigh Bells, tells the tale of Beth and Jonah, who meet as a result of a beautiful carving the he makes and she buys.  The second, The Christmas Singing, is the story of Mattie and Gideon, who were childhood sweethearts, broken apart due an illness on his part, and meet again awkwardly three years later.  The third and final story, The Dawn of Christmas, introduces readers to Sadie and Levi, who both wish to remain single, but have a difficult time dealing with the pressure from their families to marry.

Cindy Woodsmall does a wonderful job of developing each story.  The characters are loveable, causing you to wish they were real people.  I appreciated the emphasis on how the Amish people help each other out whenever possible, a lesson all of us can benefit from.

I would recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves Amish fiction.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
